Under a white plastic covered scaffolding is a historic wooden roof, partially dismantled, as a construction site.

Resource Consents

We work with RMA planners and prepare Heritage Impact Assessments and Assessments of Environmental Effects for resource consent applications.

Heritage Assessment

We provide the assessment of heritage effects for resource consent applications – and this is sometimes known as a Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA). An HIA considers the heritage significance of a place and the development proposal. It includes an assessment against the district plan heritage provisions, and an assessment of the impact on heritage values. Every resource consent application must include an Assessment of Environmental Effects.

Consent conditions

Resource consents are sometimes issued with heritage conditions and require additional information to be provided before and after the project works are completed on site. We can help with heritage conditions including photographic recording.

Notified consents

Local authorities may decide to notify a resource consent if the application affects neighbours, the wider community, or the environment. We can provide expert heritage advice, prepare evidence, and act as an expert witness at notification hearings.
